Change

The only constant thing in life is change...I'm sure everyone has heard something like this along the line. While change is constant people aren't so much. I've been told that people never change...they are incapable of it. On a whole I agree with this. Because of Murphy's law, and life in general, there can be no total generalization that covers everyone. Its not possible.

History shows us that people on a whole make the same mistakes over and over, given enough time for a lesson to be lost. Civilizations fall with their leaders because the lessons learned are lost. Rinse/Repeat.
In most anime, or Japanese drama's the main female character will make a decision and horrible things will happen. (break up, death, she's a robot, life change, etc...) Then she'll cut her hair. A sign she's not the same person she was. (i've not seen any guy characters do this...but i can only watch so many)

This is not change. Change is hard. No doubt about it. Its something that has to be done over time, not something that happens in an instant. Sharp object that can cut are points that are in the same abundances as declarations of change. Examination...steadfastness... awareness...the NEED...all need to be constant if change is to occur.

Such a long list of requirements. This is why true change is so hard for people to come by. Its too much work to change something. Especially if it goes against one's culture.  How can we move when weighed down by all this? How can we move forward when the chains hold us in place?

Does familiarity bring contentment or does it breed contempt? In each individual's answer dictates their ability to change and their openness to it.
